We sell comfort products for pets, so safety questions come up often — and they should. Here is exactly what our products are, what they are not, and how to introduce them well.
What our products are
Paws & Peace carries non-medicated comfort products, enrichment tools, grooming essentials, calming routine items, and everyday wellness support for dogs and cats. Think calming beds, comfort wraps, lick mats, grooming gloves, and supplement-style chews.
They are designed to support calmer routines at home during predictable stressful moments — storms, fireworks, car rides, grooming, vet visits, time alone, and changes at home.
What our products are not
Our products are not medications or sedatives. They are not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease or behavioral condition.
They are not a replacement for veterinary care. If your pet has a medical issue or a serious behavioral problem, your vet should be the first call, not us.
When to talk to your veterinarian first
Please check with your vet before using our products if your pet:
- Has a diagnosed medical condition
- Takes any medication
- Is pregnant or nursing
- Has special dietary needs or known allergies
- Is a young puppy or kitten, or is elderly
- Has shown sudden or severe behavior changes
Sudden behavior changes in particular can signal pain or illness. That is a vet conversation, not a product fix.
How to introduce a new product
- Read the product page first. Sizing, materials, and use instructions vary by item.
- Introduce it during a calm moment, not during the stressful event itself. A pet meeting a comfort wrap for the first time during a thunderstorm will associate it with the storm.
- Start short. A few minutes at a time, then build up.
- Supervise early use — always, and especially with wraps, lick mats, chews, and any item your pet can bite, shred, or swallow.
- Give it time. Some pets settle quickly. Others need consistent repetition over days or weeks.
Supervision and wear
Always supervise your pet with new products. Check items regularly for damage, loose pieces, tears, or excessive wear, and stop using anything that is coming apart. Replace worn items rather than repairing them.
Comfort wraps and apparel should be snug, not tight. You should be able to slide two fingers underneath comfortably. Remove them when your pet is unsupervised, crated, or sleeping overnight.
Chews and consumables
Follow the serving guidance on the product label and packaging, based on your pet's weight. More is not better. Introduce one new consumable at a time so you can tell what is working. Store them sealed and out of your pet's reach, and keep fresh water available.
Stop use and contact your veterinarian if you notice vomiting, diarrhea, lethargy, itching, swelling, or any unusual reaction.
Results vary
Every pet is different. Breed, age, temperament, history, and household environment all affect how a pet responds. We do not promise that any product will produce the same result for every pet, and we would not trust a pet brand that did.
What consistently helps: pairing the right product with patience, a predictable routine, and a calm environment.
Sizing and fit
Fit matters most for wraps, beds, and apparel. Measure your pet rather than guessing from breed, and check the sizing details on each product page before ordering. If you are between sizes or unsure, email us before you buy — we would rather help you pick correctly than process a return.
